The Lion King Plot (Spoiler Alert!)
The Lion King is centered around a young African lion called Simba, who is born to King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi. Set in the Pride Lands of Africa, where all animals are ruled by King Mufasa, Simba's arrival provokes resentment from Scar who, as Mufasa's younger brother, had been the natural heir to the throne.
Scar, though, proves determined to ensure that Simba will never grow up to take the crown. He arranges for three hyenas, Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, to ambush both Simba and his best friend Nala, before Simba's father discovers the danger his son and Nala are in and saves them. Scar then decides that he wants a direct line to the throne, and plans, with the three hyenas who ambushed Simba and Nala, to have both King Mufasa and Simba killed.
Again, Scar lures Simba into a trap, with the three hyenas making a herd of wildebeest stampede in Simba's direction. With his son trapped in a gorge, Mufasa saves him again, only for Scar to push Mufasa under the hooves of the wildebeest and to his death.
Following King Mufasa's death, Scar then tells Simba that his father's death is down to him, and convinces Simba that it'd be wise to leave the kingdom. Before he leaves, Simba again cheats death at the hands of the hyenas. Scar then crowns himself king.
Simba finds himself in a desert after leaving the Pride Lands, and here he is befriended by Timon, a meerkat, and Pumbaa a warthog. The duo look after Simba until he is a young adult, and then he is reunited with Nala, after Simba saves Timon and Pumbaa from being eaten by her! Simba and Nala fall in love, and then Rafiki, a mandrill friend of Simba's father, tells Simba that Mufasa is alive. At a pond, Simba sees the ghostly presence of Mufasa in the sky, who convinces his son to return home and take back what is rightfully his.
